Real Writers
www.real-writers.com/index.html an appraisal service run by Lynne Patrick with a team of working, published writers (like Building Societies, not all Appraisal Services are the same!). Lynne single-handedly taught me how to edit, cut the waffle and knock short stories into the sort of shape that editors might want - all by post. Lynne also runs Crème de la Crime - if you've ever thought you'd like to write a crime novel, it's worth taking a look at www.cremedelacrime.com

Not all writing courses are the same either. The jewel in the crown is Writers Holiday www.writersholiday.net held every summer in Caerleon. Great courses, fab speakers (including one you've now heard of) and wonderful food. Highlight of the week is when the local Welsh Male Voice Choir come along to put on a private concert and then carry on in the bar afterwards. Fantastic night, shame about the hangover.

Which is what I had when I first met Mil Millington - the only guy I know with Hair as Dopy as Mine. Mil is one very, very funny and brilliant writer. I should hate him really but ever since we had breakfast together (remember, sweetie?) I've been a huge fan. Check out his website Things my Girlfriend and I have argued about - it's a hoot! www.thingsmygirlfriendandihavearguedabout.com/. Personally, I think Margaret has a lot to put up with...

Can't think of a witticism to follow that one, so the rest in no particular order are: Society of Authors

My friend Marie's cafe.
This is Kent's cutest coastal cafe. And that's not just me talking that's what the BBC's Olive Magazine called it. If you're taking a trip to Broadstairs visit Oscar Road - it is fab. In the meantime get your tastebuds going by clicking on www.oscarroadbroadstairs.com

My Mates
Every writer needs other writers who understand. Some of those I share my angsts and joys with have websites too. Here's a selection to browse around if you've had enough of mine. (But do come back later and check out the 'What's New' page. You never know - something might be. )

And finally, but of no mean importance, if you would like a website like this one, Andy Harcombe is your man. Cheery, infinitely patient with hopeless ditherers and technical nit-wits, you can get hold of him by clicking here and sign up to his excellent newsletter on internet marketing through his website web net marketing.

Thanks Mate! (that is a smiley!)
